How many of you had staples instead of glue after surgery?

I am just curious as to how many of you had staples put in after your surgery instead of the glue. I was really shocked after I had my surgery to learn that I had staples put in. My doctor used glue when he took my lapband out in February. I asked him if there were complications and he just said there was definately some scare tissue. I know my surgery ended up being around an hour and 20 minutes just by the time I went to sleep and time I woke up! I am going on Tuesday to see him and I am hoping he takes the staples out. Did it hurt for those of you who had them?
Does anyone know why they would use staples instead?
Thanks
Gina

I had a combination of both. I've had staples for other procedures, and they don't hurt coming out. It just kind of feels like a little pinch then lots of itchiness.

Good luck chickee ! ! !

I've never had staples.  In fact, when I had my gallbladder out (around 15 years ago) I specifically asked the surgeon if he had to use staples.  He said they usually do work better.  When I woke up from surgery, I didn't have staples.  My VSG surgeon didn't use staples either.

I had staples with my gall bladder surgery back in 2005.  They did not hurt coming out. With my VSG I had glue.

My surgeon uses glue... but 2yrs ago (when BFF had RNY) she had staples. She said they didn't hurt, were mostly just itchy, and when they come out it didn't really hurt, mostly a weird pulling sensation and they were out.

Good luck, Gina, you'll do great.
