Today my request for VSG has been submitted to my insurance (CIGNA).  I worked so hard for the past few weeks to get everything together to have submitted and now I have to find a way to be calm and wait!!!
I have been told SO many different things about how long it can take at this point, and this is from CIGNA!!!  I have been told everything from....your request will go to the nurse who will take about 5 days to review it and make sure everything is there, then she will hand it off to the grand-pooh-bah who approves or denys things.......then today I was told that it will absolutely take 30 days, no shorter, set in stone (during this 30 days the girl said they call all my doctors and have conversations with them about all the information they submitted).  I asked this particular person at CIGNA why someone yesterday told me 5 days and then to the director for a decision.....and she said that person was just VERY wrong!!  So all the other people that I asked about the process were incorrect also I guess and this last girl was and is the only one right!

OK Sorry I just had to get that out!!!!  I am a very impatient person I guess.  I just wish they would look at it now, tell me yes or no....if they say no, then I can work on getting what I need to get there.

Breath in, breath out.....this is going to be a long month!

Sorry for the rant!

I also have Cigna, and I was approved very quickly. My surgical scheduler submitted everything I think on July 13th.  Cigna sent me an approval letter dated July 19. And my surgery is next week, August 4.

Hopefully, you won't be waiting long. I know after all the rush of appointments and more appointments and more appointments it almost seemed like a surprise when they called me to ask when I could do the surgery.

I also had Cigna and I was told several things too, first it was 72 hours then it was 15 days. I had an approval in less than a week! Good luck, being patient is hard but so worth it!!!
