Yeast? Has anyone had this problem? Also vein infection from iv?

 Hi All,

I have a white coating on my tongue and a TON of gas just over 1 week out.  I'm thinking it might be a yeast infection and am going to go to my doctor for treatment today.  

Also, what kind of antibiotics (if any) are good for the iv line vein infection.  Can our new tummies handle what ever antibiotic we're prescribed, or are there certain ones that are better?

My barriatric surgeon is not local - in fact there are no local barriatric surgeons, so I'll need to go into this appointment with my information in order.

Your tongue coating could be thrush.  I think they prescribe a mouthwash for that.  I believe Caligirlgina here on the board had that so you might check with her.

Not sure about the Rx for vein infection.  My surgeon prescribed me liquid meds the first 6 weeks so you might ask that whatever they give you be made into a liquid.

 Yep it's probably thrush. Eat lots of unsweetened yogurt! 

I had a deep vein infection from the IV being in to long. My arm swole up and hurt worse than anything i've ever had injury wise. They gave me the strongest Anti-Biotics they could to get rid of the infection. So i believe the stomach can handle any of the Anti-Biotics.

It is Thrush. I had it after my surgery! My doc gave me antiobotics and it went away.
