For the first time in my lfie I will be able to buy some knee high boots for jeans and dresses. I was just wonder what would a good pair to look at. I am 54 yrs old so no high heeled ones. I have fractured my foot and leg in the past so high heeled ones would be uncomfortable.

look at the white mountain brand.  They are known for comfort and come in reg and wide width and have a little more calf room

putting one foot in front of the other...

I have purchased boots from Silhouettes and Eddie Bauer in the past and have liked both pair. Just be sure to do a calf measurement if you're shopping online

I'm in love with these from Lands End. Low heel, very comfy. and calf is still a bit wide. Despite losing weight, I still have larger calves due to a lot of muscle that isn't going anywhere.

I like those and I could use them for riding if I wanted to.

I agree with the Zappos recommendation. I just bought a pair of casual Merrell boots and some Minnetonka moccasin style boots from Zappos. They have a great selection, good prices, fast shipping.
