Avg.weekly weight loss after 1st 6 weeks?

I am just curious as too what most of you are losing after the 1st 6 weeks post surgery? my loss was 5 to 6 pounds a week and now it dropped to 3...is that a normal thing? just wanted to see what others were losing, on average?

It's very normal. I averaged about 2.5 lbs a week after the first month and a half (including stalls and good weeks of over 3). Then about the middle of month 4 my loss went up to 3 lbs including stalls. I've been losing better since then than I did early on.

Highest weight: 335 lbs, BMI 50.9
Pre-op weight: 319 lbs, BMI 48.5
Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

175+ lbs lost, maintaining since February 2012

A combination of things:

I stopped trying so hard to get all my protein from food, and went back to protein shakes. As a result, my protein went to 100g a day and my liquids to 88-102 oz a day (typically around 96).

My joints started to feel better so I started to be more active overall.

Current range: 140-144, BMI 21.3 - 22

I am going to try this then. Not that I have issues with the weight loss thus far, but I am running a little short on protein and a little high on calories. Thanks for the post mom.

My first month I lost around 36lbs if I can remember correctly. I just recently made eight months out and after the first month, I lost almost exactly 10lbs a month. Some weeks it's one pound and others maybe three but it's funny how it always works out to be 10lbs a month. But it all adds up in the end!

Sounds about right. At 6 weeks out, I was losing about 4 lbs a week, now (2+ months out) it's slowing a little.

It's better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not.

Yes, definitely slower for me too, after week 6. I tend to lose a lot one week (4 pounds, say), then only a pound the following week. But still going down!

Sounds like my experience too. My 1st 2 weeks was only 5 lbs., as I lost 35 pre-op. Since then, I've lost 33 lbs, in 10 weeks, averaging a little over 3 lbs. a week. Keep up the good work!
