have to vent somewhere.... I feel like pure crap.  I am on month 3 of my required 4 month weigh ins before my surgery and I gained a pound! I don't know how!!!! I only drink water or my protein shakes, been eating leaner and cutting carbs back.  Working out 2-3 times a week as my schedule allows.  So mad, and to top it off what I thought was a stomach bug come to find out I have an ulcer on my stomach!  So now on meds to correct that.  I just feel all around like crap and like I cant cut this.  I mean if I cant lose the weight now will I be able to when I have the surgery?  Just feeling down...

Ugh, that must be extremely frustrating.  Life and weight loss and eating post op are so different from pre op.  So my first token of advice is to not compare the two.  Post op, you still have to put in effort and be compliant, but our sleeve makes it easier (hard to describe really).

It sounds like maybe you are in a stall.  These happen post op too as I'm sure you've read here.  Even when we're totally compliant and working our butts off, sometimes the weight just freezes.  I would say just keep doing your plan (as hard as it is).

Hang in there!

OK first step - deep breath!  Now are you sure the pound you gained isn'****er retention?  Perhaps something you ate in the last few days was higher in sodium then usual which would cause water retention.  Or perhaps you drank electrolyte enhanced water (smar****er, vitamin water, etc) that also would cause water retention.

As for the ulcer - yep that's a bummer but hopefully easily taken care of.  Everyone goes through this stage of frustration.  This too shall pass and you be on the other side before you know it.

All the best to you in your journey...you are taking back control that's what matters!

I can understand where you are coming from. At my month 3 weigh in I had gained 7 pounds. And I was doing everything by the book. Even walking 3 miles or more a day everyday. At the next month weigh in I had lost the 7 and 2 more. i dont know if our bodies freak out at all the changes we are making and decides to hang on to every calorie or what but I eventually lost the 7 pounds a few more. At my last weigh in I had lost another 2 pounds for a total of 15 overall. Not much compared to what i need to lose to get healthy for sure but it was a start. I had my last weigh in in December but i am still losing. Down 3 more pounds so far this month. I am just hoping that i dont lose so much now that they decide I dont need the surgery after all lol.

During my 6 month diet I lost 35lbs, then the 3 months after my 6 months yet prior to my surgery I gained all but 10lbs back.  I went on to lose over 100lbs.

Don't beat your self up!  Fluctuation is pretty normal on any diet.  Pre-op I looked at times I was having trouble losing on that diet as proof that I needed the surgery for long term success.  keep a food diary to bring with you when you see your surgeon and nutritionist next time to show them the effort you are making.  They can look at it with you and offer advice or suggestions.   I'm glad you are taking care of your ulcer now.  You'll feel better soon.

for some reason the pre-op diet was the hardest diet i had ever been on i dont know why... i only had to lose 15lbs I did that in the first 2 months.. but that left me 4 months to try and maintain... i didnt want to get below 285lbs before the surgery just incase some insurance requirement came back to snap me... but i was a nervous wreck maintaining my weight for those 4 months... i was gonna pig out like 2 weeks before my surgery and then lose it the week before but my surgery got moved to a week sooner than i planned... so i had to go on my diet a week sooner... that sucked... but im now 2 months post op today and im down 45lbs since surgery... i feel great and everybody is starting to tell me i look so good... lol and i still have 60lbs to lose... you can do it... good luck...
