I didn't have a drain so can't help much there. But as far a ssleeping in my ged I used lots of pillows propped around me and slept great. If I slept on my side I had a pillow under my stomach. Hope you can kind a comfy way.

I had VSG 5 days ago, no drain, but I too have been using a pillow under my stomach while laying on my side.   I sleep like a baby.

I had surgery on the 21st and had the same issue as you until last night. I have found that keeping a soft pillow up against the my side has helped a lot. I am 5 days out now and last night I actually got some quality sleep in. Each night it gets tremendously better.

I had mine done on 2-24 I don't have a drain but I have a pain pump still in and I having trouble too.  I sleep on my side with pillows all around me.  If I had a recliner I would sleep in it with pillows since I slept best in the hospital bed with some bend in it.  Keep trying. I am hoping we will comfortable again soon!

I had a drain for a week post op. I slept with a lot of pillows propped up. Pretty much sitting up. Once the drain was removed, I was able to lean on my sides. It took about 2 weeks before I could sleep comfortably on my stomach.

I slept in a recliner for the first 5 nights home.  It was pretty comfortable and the drain didn't bother when I slept there!

Thank you for all your help.  I know I will feel better once the drain comes out.  I am not able to sit for any length of time without feeling restless.  I used to have some anxiety in the past and I think feeling confined just brings this back a little.  All the comments saying things like, "day 5 felt alot better" are great to look forward to.  Any other suggestions, please share.  I hope I will be able to add something that will help somone else along the way, as well.  Everyone have a great day!

I slept in my recliner for the first week or so after, until I was able to lay down comfortably.
