After 3 denials and 14 months.....

I have finally been approved!!!  I cannot believe it.  I am beyond excited!!!!

I changed my insurance in Nov of 2010 to one that covers WLS.  I started my 90 days diet in January '11.  I finished that in May.  I was denied in June due to no co-morbidities even though my BMI was over 40 for 2 years.  Then I got 2 comorbidities in my Sept '11 yearly appointment.  I was denied again for my January '12 date.  The doctor's office said I was denied becuase I have to have the comorbidities until 2013 but the insurance said I was denied becuase the doctor didn't send in my 2010 weight.  I told the dr.'s office that and then they said "We'll I don't know who you where talking to but (blah blah blah).  Plus it took them almost 10 weeks to send my paperwork in.  So I switched doctor's.  I went to a seminar in January and I was approved today.  The did deny me 2 weeks ago becuase the first doctor hadn't sent the right nutrition paperwork in.  This new doctor is amazing!  He is Dr. Bell from Amarillo.  He's done my EGD and really took the time to answer all my questions.  I switched to the VSG with him also and am so happy with that decision.  I had so many hurdles with the first doctor that It feels like God wanted me to have the different surgery with a different doctor.

Thanks for listening to me rambling!  I have been so jealous to see everyone say "I finally got a date!"  So here I am.  It was worth the wait to be comfortable with the decision and surgery.

One question....  How long until I can drive?  I have to kids and need to get them to school/daycare while I am out.  Hubby can take off a few days and my mom can take off a few.  Will 5 days off of driving be enough?

Congrats and I was driving by day 5 at least would have been sooner but had to leave my car at the hospital bc they would not let me drive home. Although I had no pain meds.

 CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I waited 3 years!  So I know how you feel.  Pretty soon you'll know how I feel getting into size 10 jeans every day - you really will!

It happened so fast for me once I was approved I hardly had time to take it in.  I didn't even have time to get scared.  I won't say there wasn't any pain, but it was so, so much better than I expected, and I could not believe how fast my body changed.

I can only dream of being a 10!!!  When I was in the Navy I weighed 167 and was a 14.  I think since I am tall that I am just going to have to deal with bigger pants.  I would be so happy for a 16!  We'll just have to wait and see won't we??   Thanks for the encouragement!
