This is exactly what I do, we call it "pizza chicken" in our house, totally scratches the itch.

Like some others, I definitely fall on the 'strict' side of the category.

I think foods like pizza have no place (or little place) during the weight-loss phase.  Pizza is traditionally a food that is overeaten, high in saturated fat, very high in carbohydrates, and pretty calorie dense.  The small amount of protein on it comes with too much other junk.  So much that for my own uses, I categorize pizza as a junk food.

And if you look around this forum (or your local support group) and see the people that get to their goal, that lose 100% of the weight they want to lose, pretty much they are not eating foods like pizza when they are losing weight.  So one question to ask yourself is which is a more important driver for you - hitting your weight loss goal, or maximizing enjoyment through food?

I like some of the other ideas people talk about - like low carb crusts - for after the weight-loss phase when you get to maintenance.  But my recommendation to you, anyone else here and myself would be to skip out junk foods like pizza until you hit that awesome day when you're at goal weight.

Good luck!

Oh yeah - one other thing I forgot to mention - for a lot of us, the high carb content of pizza (even thin crust) can really make it a slider food, which means you may be able to eat more volume of pizza than of other foods - so it may be possible for you to blow your 700 calorie daily budget in one sitting.  Just wanted to add that.

I didn't have it in the weight loss phase really, but now in maintenance I make a homemade whole wheat thin crust pizza for my family once a week (instead of ordering out), I budget my calories and carbs that day so I can have a slice at dinner (which is all I need, and I rarely even fini****).

From what my nutritionist says and what I've read here we should be aiming for about 600 calories , more than 60g protein for women, and no more than 40g carbs per day. Hope that helps, and best wishes !!

Forgot to mention, if you go to theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/, she has fantastic recipes.  She has a section called pizza porn, its all different types of pizzas you can make with tortilla shells...

If you want to change things up check her out.  I was getting bored of things as well!

Hi there! I am 15 months out. Last weekend I went for a visit to my sister's house in another city. Of course the big meal out was a pizza parlor. I took the slices and scraped off all the toppings onto a plate and ate all of that. It was as good as eating the whole pizza, if not better, as I have not cheated with carbs the whole time, so pizza toppings were wonderful. I do less than 30 grams carbs per day, usually around 20 and have lost almost 160 pounds. Good luck!
