Just curious....how did you determine what you're goal weight should be? Starting at 5ft 7in and  230lbs I felt like my goal weight should be around 140-145.  My dr said 180 would be good for me. So I decided to make my goal at 155. Just wondering how you decided on your goal weight.

Using a highly randomized controlled process, I picked the weight I had been when I lost the most previously (3 decades ago).

I told my Doctor I was very happy at 130 for 20 years ,he told me great you'll be even happier at 120. Smart guy right lol we might meet in the middle 125 but that's according to me

I'm the same height I couldn't imagine being less than 170-175. I'm pretty comfortable at 190, but then again I've been past 400.

I picked an arbitrary weight, based more on appearance. In my case, I said "I want to both be able to say I lost 200lbs total, and I'd like to be under 200lbs as a weight." So I settled on 199. It places me right near a healthy weight and a BMI of 25.5

I'm also 5'7" and picked 150 for the heck of it. Now that I'm here, I think I will try for 140 for some wiggle room.

That said, I'm looking into getting a body composition test done to have a better feel for how much of me is fat, muscle, skin, etc.

My highest weight was 328. According to some BMI charts 164 is the highest weight I should be and be considered normal. It works out that 164 is exactly half my highest weight. So when I reach that goal I will weigh 164 and have lost 164lbs... My doctor thinks 158 is a good goal weight for me. But I want to get to the 164 and see how I feel.

I looked at the weight I needed to be to be in the "normal" for BMI. My surgeon suggested 130 (I am 5'3") My PMD said 150 and then we will see. I chose the middle ground 140 that would get me to a normal BMI.

My goal of 120 would put me in the middle of a normal BMI for my height of 5'2. I may rethink this as I get closer... it really depends on so many factors. Plus I want to start trying to get pregnant around the time I get to goal, so I don't know how long I'll be there, but right now getting to goal is more about being able to have a healthy pregnancy than anything else (for me).
