So...because I have worked with employee benefits for a very long time, and because I'm just impatient (probably more the latter than the former), I decided to call my insurance company today and ask whether or not they had made a determination.  Not yet, was the answer.

However, (and this is the good part), the doctor had marked it as urgent, so they should have gotten a response within 24 hours of submitting the request....so it's getting pushed to the front of the line, so should have an answer today, tomorrow at the latest.

Yay!

I know how you feel, I'm waiting for an answer as well. I called the insurance company today and I was told they have five days to make a decision and tomorrow makes the fifth day. Its still pending

I work in employee benefits as well... it can be both a blessing and a curse when it comes to dealing with your own issues! I generally find my experience helpful, though.

Me too, for sure!  After 16 years managing plans, I usually know the answer before the insurance folks do, and I usually know who to bully to get me way.
