Well I was self paid, but I was so anxious for the surgery to come.  I made lists of those things I always wanted like clothes, things I've wanted to do and set weightloss goals.  Keep yourself busy with your dreams which will soon become a reality.

The days leading up to surgery are a trip...anxiety, doubt, fear, anger, sadness...

UPdownUPdownUPdown

Haha! Try to believe me when I tell you this is NORMAL.

After the surgery, for about a week or so...you'll be on the same emotional rollercoaster. I remember just laying on my bed and crying my eyes out. My mom came and laid with me and just let me cry.

It's weird. I fought the insurance company for over a year and it was *such* a battle, I thought I'd be overjoyed when I got approved...but it's weird. Facing a major surgery and permanent life change seriously plays with your heart and head.

Just try to stay calm. Reassure yourself that any doubts that creep up are normal. As for all that nervous energy, use it to prepare. Buy the foods you need. Get a scale. Get a journal. Write out your plan for nutritional goals after surgery. Read and re-read your doctor's surgery packet...etc, etc, etc!

Believe me when I tell you it will be HARD for the first 5 weeks after surgery, but I swear on my life that after that...things get really, really GREAT!!!

Oh, and if the insurance company tries to screw you over - don't take no for an answer. They like to say "No" before they say "Yes".

Good luck!
