What is the normal wait at the hospital after having VSG surgery?

I had outpatient and highly recommend getting in and out as quickly as possible. Hospitals have germs. I've been a nurse 20+ years and one thing you don't want is to stay in the hospital over night. Same day surgery, that is the way to go. Much cleaner. What can they do for you that you cannot do at home? Ask yourself if you really want the risk of infection and the iv pain medication? My doctor placed a lidocaine pain pump and gave me lortab elixir and I was fine. I walked a lot and frequently. I sipped and peed. I didn't need the iv.

Good luck!!

Mr Dr. said 1 overnight. However I ended up staying 4 days.

I went in early Friday morning and was D/C'd Sunday morning around noon. That was about a day and a half too long. My tolerance for an IV is about a day.

I had my surgery at 6pm monday night and was home by 5pm Tuesday. Mine was self pay in a private hospital though, so I was quite comfortable in my own room with ensuite. It was basically a hotel room with a lot more gadgets...lol

I was in the hospital for 3 nights. Loved being pampered and taken care of. I wish I could have taken that hospital bed home with me.

I had surgery at 4 pm on a Tuesday and was out of there at 9 am on Wednesday morning. I hate hospitals and had my surgery at a surgical centre where they only keep you overnight. It was great.
