Getting in touch with my current body size

Talk about head games... it sure is weird how the mind works.  I feel like I have a long way to go to really feel thin.  However, this past week I had a business meeting and I had to buy new dress shirts in medium.  That was kinda freaking me out.  I don't feel medium at all.  Then, last night, my wife and I were in a shop and they had a medium leather jacket.  I told her I doubted that the medium would fit and that I really wanted to see where I ended up before I bought something that expensive.  So I tried the medium.  It fit OK but I put it back.  Then I thought about whether I should risk it and just buy a small for next year.  I wondered how far I would have to lose to make the small fit.  So I tried the small on... and it fit like a glove.  A SMALL?  Now granted this jacket was probably meant to fit looser than I normally wear.. but still... a SMALL?  Wow.  Between this and so many people asking me if I've hit my goal, I must be a lot closer to the end than I think I am.  I'm a pound off my initial goal of 200 and likely will revise to shoot for 180.  Isn't it strange how hard it is to see ourselves as we really are?  I'm sure that I'll catch up with my reality soon but for now it is kind of surrealistic.  What an interesting problem to have and what a difference from last Christmas.

I cannot wait for the day I see a medium or small in my closet. You are doing amazing and you need to recognize that! The proof is in the sizing.

It is really hard to argue with a size medium label!

You'll be there before you know it Michelle.

I'm about 5' 9 but I have short legs and a longer torso.   Also, I think we have to factor loose skin into the picture on our way down. Most of my weight was in my lower stomach.   I know that my body fat is getting a lot lower because my buoyancy is very low right now.  For the first time in my life I can sink in water just by exhaling.  Believe me, it is hard to believe I'm in mediums at this weight, but larges hang on me.  Heck, my neck is under 15".  Most large shirts have about a 16 1/2" neck.  Isn't it odd how different two people of similar weight can be?

Awesome NSV Terry!!!  A size small leather jacket rocks!!!

I know what you mean.  I still cannot see myself small ... at all.  I just realized that these stretchy pair of SEVEN jeans that I bought 2 weeks ago is a size small.  SIZE SMALL!!!!  Even if they are stretchy, I don't struggle at all to get them on but I still see my a$$ as huge!!!!!  I'm hoping one of these days I can look in the mirror and see what others say they see in me.

Now ... if I can just get past this holiday season and still fit in these I will be good!

Hope you have a great holiday Terry!!!  You are doing fantastic!!!

When I was a 4X I couldn't find clothes that size (except at the fatboy stores)

Now I go to the normie stores and all the small and med. are gone and all I see are XL, XXL, XXXL !!!

You are right about that Frisco,  I was shopping this weekend and sure enough, hard to find 36 dress pants in the style I wanted.  And I found some sweaters I wanted and sure enough... XL, XXL, XXXL - Geeze.  I couldn't have found sweaters I liked before to save my life.  Hahaha.  I'll live with it!  Have a great holiday Frisco.  Its a mutual admiration society to be sure.

Terry, totally awesome NSV! Seriously, doesn't it feel GREAT! Just wait till you're at your 180 goal. It's just wild. I'm 5'7" and went from a 2XL down to a small or medium depending on the cut and I f'ing wear slim fit shirts and pants.

Frisco is totally right. I've gone from one hard to fit/find size to another. Somehow I don't mind so much now, though. Yesterday, while shopping for a gift the sales guy at the men's store saw a pair of jeans in my size and gave me 60% off just so I'd buy them! They usually have to order my size (30X30).

Be careful about buying clothes right now. I made the mistake of thinking that with only 25 - 30 pounds left to lose I'd never be smaller than a size large. My sizes dropped like CRAZY the last 30 pounds. It was ridiculous! The guys at Goodwill and some of my friends are wearing some really nice, only been worn once shirts and pants. It's smarter to wait until you're done losing and much kinder to your finances!
