Yikes Gas pain how long does it last
I had surgery Monday and the gas pains are still a beast. For me, it started in my shoulder and settled in my chest. Taking DEEP breaths (which we are supposed to do anyway to help remove anesthesia) helps loosen it up. I posted about this yesterday and got the same answer again and again: GasX is useless since the gas is the CO2 for where they filled your abdomen, not in your colon. Movement helps. Move and breathe deep. I keep hearing that it should loosen up within a week. Take care!

The length of time it lasts is very dependent on you. I did a lot of walking and only had issues for about 2 and a half days and barely that last half a day. I didn't take anything for it such as Gas X although some on here claim it to be a good thing to have and try. I simple got up and walked when I could and tried to push myself a little as to length and therefore time of walk.
Other people have gas issues for a longer time as you will see. As you probably have heard the first week or two is very much about walking and sipping. Rinse and repeat so to speak.
