Surgery 9/3, have some concerns
Hi everyone!!
Had my sleeve done on 9/3. Yesterday, 9/4 I was just overcome with nausea. It was unbearable. I didn't have much pain, so I was thankful to not have both.
My question is I came home today, & I have been able to sip all day. I have gotten about 60oz of fluid already & one protien shake down. I'm fine as long as I take small sips. I have walked on my treadmill for 10min. on the lowest setting also.
I guess I'm just nervous bx it seems that many people have so much trouble getting fluid in. I'm getting myself worked up, instead of just being happy that I'm feeling good. I am following the post op plan exactly. I am also down 4lbs from 9/3. I had iv fluid in the hospital & urinating fine.
Should I be worried & call my dr??
If you've hit say 68oz or more, you're doing fine. Relax if your body is telling you not to sip more for now. Just manage what you can. However, make sure your liquid choices are getting you the 60 grams of protein you need. Don't fill up on water and leave no room for the protein.

Don't worry you are doing fine I believe we all went through the nausea stage. I'm just a week out and I had my share the first night but once after that so don't worry about that as long as it has stopped. My only concerned is that you aren't getting enough protein in the fluids you take in make sure you do protein first then water. Just put yourself on an plan breakfast - protein, snack - water, lunch - protein, snack - water, dinner - protein.
Or you can do what I do to make sure I get all my protein I use the protein powder to make my own shake using 2 scoops of protein that gives me 42 gms in one shake then I slip water, sugar free Jello, thinned mashed potatoes, then an second protein shake that take care of my protein then water the rest of the day.
