I'm afraid I'm drinking too much liquid

I know that sounds silly but... I just had my surgery on Tuesday and I have no problem drinking my liquids - I can easily get 16 ounces in fairly quickly with no negative effects. My concern is that when I get to the point that I can actually eat food, will I really feel full on a smaller amount? Do we just process/tolerate liquids differently?

Thanks for any insight or help!

Yes, liquids pass through faster than solid food.  My nut & doc both told me this.

Yes. Liquids are a comletely different experience that solids. My first week of solids, I would feel full/stuffed for about an hour or two... on 1/4 cup of food!

Everyones bellyis different. Good luck!!

Your pylorus lets liquids through without any problems.  You won't feel any restriction until you move on to soft foods.  And yes, you will feel more full on a smaller amount.  Your sleeve will be quick to let you know. :)

No worries...your restriction will kick in when you eat food. The fact that you can drink easily is great and probably means you're not as swollen as some get.

It can be normal for many folks. I also have never problem with liquids. I was so worried about I asked about it during each of my follow-ups. I'm not sure the doctor actually laughed at be, but he had that look of internal laughter. Well, bottom line, he said every time that liquid intake was not a problem.

Like you, and many others here, you want to: (a) panic that you're stretching your new toy, and (b) worry that the restriction isn't working like it should.

Doctor said not to worry about (a). Also, lots of posts on OH will explain why.

As for (b), I can assure your from personal experience that the restriction will work n actual food when the time comes.

I probably posted the exact same thing after my surgery. Some people react differently with swelling and such so I would guess that's why. It's a great thing you can get liquids in without trouble and when you start eating, you will be able tell, for sure!! Sounds like things are going well for you! Best wishes on your journey!

I was the same way and don't worry, you will be restricted on food. I can still drink pretty much however much I want. But food even at a year out I can only eat about 4oz of food but I can gun down a 16oz bottle of water with no problem.
