"Bullet Proof Coffee" or Coffee like you've never Seen it Before

Well, for kicks and grins, I tried it this morning. Coffee with grass-fed butter in it. As I'm not a coffee drinker normally, this was a way different experience for me. I think normally I've not liked coffee because of the bitterness. But with the BUTTER (Paula Deen, eat your heart out), the taste is really quite good. Smooth with less bitterness.

At any rate, we'll see how it holds me. People say they really aren't hungry after having this.

As I'm in maintenance (sorta...b/c I'm still considering trying to lose another 10 - 15 lbs) I figure I can experiment a bit. And honestly, the last week or so, I've added more fats to my diet and the scale is moving down again, in spite of the fact my calories have increased a bit. But I want to keep it in hand. I'm very anxious about this whole maintenance thing as I'm quite conscious that my success with long term maintenance depends upon my ability to be aware at all times.

So, we shall see. My one year surgiversary is in two days, which is just amazing to me. I've said it a thousand time, and will say it again. I'm so, so grateful for this opportunity and for finding this community to be a part of my journey. You guys ROCK!

Very interesting. A friend of mine swears by the bullet proof coffee but I was leery of trying it due to calories and fat since I want to lose 15-20 more lbs.

Congrats on your upcoming surgiversary!!

all the best, Katy

Ok I'm seriously intrigued. Is it just any flavor of coffee with butter in it? Or is there something special that I'm missing? Also... How much butter to coffee? I'm really interested to try this!

I know just bits and pieces. Keith on here does it nearly every day. I recently posted another thread and he responded. Also, try googgling "bullet proof coffee" and the guy who started it has a video up to explain it. Good luck!

Did you put coconut oil in it too? I notice when I use that I am not hungry even a little bit.

Ok Keith...tell me more, I am interested. I only drink decaf. I don't use butter but I have never heard of this concept, what am I missing?

I make a 12 oz cup of coffee, add 1 tbsp of organic virgin coconut oil, and about a tsp of grass fed butter and whatever sweetener you might use. Blend it up and drink it. When I do this I am not hungry even when lunch time rolls around. The coconut oil and grass fed butter are high in fat, so you have to plan for it but they are made up of Medium Chain Triglycerides which are almost pure energy.

Its pretty simple, not missing anything.

Wow, never heard of it. I love experimenting with coconut oil here and there. I am trying to re-kick start my weight loss and doing liquids only (protein shakes and clear liquids) every other day. Somethings gotta give.

Have you considered intermittent fasting and/or carb cycling? and by carb cycling I am not talking about candy bars and chips, but oatmeal and brown rice. Given how far out you are and the amount you have lost, something like that might be effective.
