Today was a day of emotions out the wazoo!  I have been wearing pants that literally could fall off me at any moment.  They had an elastic waist band in them and when they finally got too loose I started "clipping the waist band" to make them "sort of fit".  Money has been super, super, super tight and buying clothes (even at the thrift shop) has been a no go right now.  So in the immortal words of Tim Gunn, I've been trying to "make it work".  I had a friend ask me if she could take me shopping for a few clothing items to celebrate my current hard work on weight loss.  (She is only one of 3 who knows I've had surgery).  I hemmed and hawed around until finally accepting her offer.  We went today.

I about had heart failure when we pulled up in the Mall parking lot.  I have always had to order clothes online or shop in "the BIG PERSON" stores.   We went to a store that she was sure would have stuff I could wear.  I was sure it was going to be the biggest disaster.   I was asked "What size do you wear?"  My reply,  "I have no clue?  I have lost a lot of weight but to be honest, I am not sure you will have anything that will fit me yet."  In my mind I was thinking "Lady, the last time I bought pants they ranged from size 28 to size 36!"

After a few moments of asking about my style preference --- I was shown a couple styles of pants in sizes that I knew would not fit over my knees let alone my behind and flabby belly.  But, I tried anyway and.....they FIT!!!!  I had a bit of a crying fest in the dressing room.  Never could I imagine the former tight size 5X  wearing me, putting on the size I did today, from a store that doesn't cater to "the BIG PERSON" shopper.

I showed my friend,  she said "See....now you can tell how much you have really lost."  The pants have adjustable waist bands so I can take them in a bit as I continue to lose more.  So, now I have a couple new pairs of pants, some new blouses/tops and a new perspective of how I am beginning to really look.

Thanks, It was the weirdest feeling walking in to this store today.  But the sales person was great and totally understood my apprehension about not finding clothing that would fit.  As we checked out, she confided that she had also lost a lot of weight and was just now able to wear items from her workplace.  I think it was divine intervention that she was the one who ended up working with us today.

What a beautiful post of how all your hard work is paying off. And to think about you getting those pants on and seeing the transformation in the mirror just warmed my heart...I truly no what you feel like to a point...but your friend has a giving heart and how nice of her to help you out in more ways than a new pants and shirt....Keep up the great work..so very proud of you and cant wait to have my surgery to get on the loosing side

Thank you.  I really didn't "see" how much I have lost.  I still see the "bigger me" when I look in the mirror.  I always tell people I used to be "as big has a 5 bedroom house, I was huge!"  Today, was so eye opening on how far I truly have come.  And you are right, my friend has given me more than just a few items of clothing today.  I am BLESSED!!!!
