Ha!  I am about 45 mins from Syracuse too.  North.  How about you?  I would love to hear how your surgery went!  Was the first week as awful as I hear so many say it is?

I am west of Syracuse in Waterloo.  I had my surgery done in Auburn, and honestly, once I got past the vomiting from the narcotics I felt great.  It is difficult to get enough water and protein in sometimes, it feels like I am always putting something in my mouth, which logically seems contradictory with what we have done historically when trying to lose weight.   This is a journey that I, like you, need to be on to be the mom we both want to be for our kids.  I can take a few days of feeling yucky when the prize is LIVING the rest of my life.

Hello fellow 315er. I live in Wayne county but grew up in Cayuga County not too far from Baldwinsville. I went through Community General first and that didn't work out. So when my insurance changed I got my sleeve through Highland hospital in Rochester. Who are you going through?

I am going through upstate bariatrics with dr simon.  It is at community though. I have heard great things of the surgeon but I know nothing about the hospital.

My mom retired from there. She worked with the Billing department. The surgeon I went through Dr.DeSimone went to Crouse I believe. I have always liked community and think it is a good hospital.

I went from 455 pounds to currently 285. I went from a 60 inch waist to a 44 inch waist. I am close to no longer having sleep apnea. I am looking to lose around another 40 and get to a 40 inch waist but yeah it makes life a lot easier. I have so much more energy and can stand for long periods and walk so fast now.

I feel like I am being robbed of my life by being overweight.  Yet at the same time I feel guilty for not being able to get ahold of it.  So this seems promising for me!  I discovered during the required testing that I do have sleep apnea.  And I am tired all the time.  I look forward to getting some more energy...and confidence too!

Yeah the guilt thing can be tough. I look at it as if I had a heart blockage I would get surgery so in this I got my stomach working correctly. I also look at it as hey this is costing my insurance company 10000 or so but how much in the long run am I saving the health care system.
