Stalled after starting weight training

I am stalled after I started weight training and working with a trainer.    I had heard of that before but never experienced it.  Weight is stuck at 215-216 for the last 2 weeks.  Anyone else experience this?  Very discouraging.  :(

Totally normal for your weight loss to stall when you change something.  It's pretty much your body's way of saying, "OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME I MUST RESIST CHANGE."  Then your body will get over it and the weight will start coming off again.

This is, of course, assuming that you're not falling into the trap of rewarding your exercise with food which is something so many people do.

Nope.  Not giving in to the temptation of rewarding myself!  If anything, I am more careful.  Thanks! Let's wait and see!

Same thing happened to me - at the exact same weight!  I started losing again after about a week and a half.  I also make sure to get in about 4 days of cardio, 3x per week strength training.  Up your water intake to at least 90-100oz-that helps.  It will pass- don't stress! And don't stop exercising:)

Not planning on stopping.  Thanks for your response.  I have added Cardio too!

Working your muscles will sometimes cause you to retain water, so it is short term and if you are staying the same great, that means you will drop a good bit quickly.

Another thing to consider is you could also be building muscle mass and muscles are heavier than fat.

Yep.  I can feel the muscle in my arm building.  Thanks!

Hi Loser2014,

This is perfectly normal and may take a few weeks. When I started weight training the scales did not move for 4 weeks. But boy oh boy, once they did not only did I find the scale moving but the work outs bumped up my metabolism and I lost an amazing amount of weight for 8 weeks straight.  If you can forget the number on the scale and concentrate on how good and strong you feel.

Regards,

Kathy
