Anyone want to share what they ate on their full liquid diet.  I am having a real hard time thinking of menus or what to eat to get all the protein I need....Just started yesterday and I have a terrible gag reflex when I don't like the taste of something, and yesterday was horrible...and today I am so nauseated I can't even think of any food going in my mouth...Why are some that are on full liquid allowed to have chicken-veg. for one of their meals and others are not?  Think that would make a huge difference...Did you see your Dr./dietitian and anesthesiologist before you started your diet?

I only seen my NUT. a month before my preop diet.. She gave me a date, and I started it.. I was on full liquids like you, no meats or veggies at all! It was hard at first but got better. I had a lot of broth, water, V8, Crystal lite, Powerade Zero, SF Jello, SF pudding.. Just remember protein :) Good luck!

Not sure why some surgeons allow 1 solid meal and others do not.   There are so many variations in rules from one surgeon to the next.

One reason might be amount of weight to be lost pre-surgery?  A coworker is about to have the VSG from my surgeon and she only has to do 7 days of liquid and I had to do 10.  My BMI was much higher than hers.  Plus she is a she and I am not.

I stuck with Premier Protein RTD shakes for breakfast and lunch and I was allowed 3 oz of protein and 1/2 cup of veg at dinner.   I did not meet with the anesthesologist until the morning of surgery.   The surgeon's office went over the 10 day diet rules thoroughly.

I sipped protein shakes and strained soups all day. There was no menu to speak of until I high puréed foods!

oh. You mean the preop diet. For me that was 5 shakes a day. Yum. :P  I'm glad I wasn't allowed food, since I think I would have had a hard time being vigilant if I could have "some" food. I was better with shakes only.

I'm sure not that crazy about the protein shakes or putting protein powder with other things, since doing it I burp all the time and the taste seems to gag me...going to be a long two weeks, and then after surgery another two weeks....yuck  But in the end it will all be worth it...

I think finding the right protein shake can really make a difference. I hated every shake I tried until I came across the Syntrax brand. Those, I am fine with. I won't go so far as to say I like them, but they don't make me want to puke like other brands have. I'm varying flavors between vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, and strawberry.

My pre- and post-op diet was 4-5 shakes a day. As a PP said, it made things very easy, and I was over 100 grams of protein almost every day.
