2 week pre-op liquid diet
I am on day 4 of my pre-op liquid diet. My first day was on Thanksgiving and that was so hard to watch everyone else eat while I sat there with my water and Optifast. I am on day 4 and struggling. I have 3 kids I still have to prepare food for. I do really great and think it is not so bad until I have to make a meal for them. I haven't cheated yet, but have come close. Please, someone tell me it gets easier.
HI.....
I hope it gets easier. I'm on day 7 of my pre-op and it's a killer. I guess we just have to keep looking at the big picture. We're going to have to make MANY small hurdles I believe, till we get where we need to be. Karen H, and myself are scheduled for surgery on the 8th. When is yours? Please keep in touch as I'm sure we can help one another. Kim
How old are the kids? Do you have a partner who can take over cooking duties for the next few weeks? It might be a good idea to plan things that you can easily double and freeze, so that you've got food covered for the liquid diet post-op when you don't have a lot of energy.

Is the 8 year old able to help with cooking at all? Involving the old kid(s) in food prep might be a good way to take your mind off the actual food a bit. :)

Just posted on the RNY board. I ended up having a month pre op diet, with 6 oz protien 2 shakes and 1/2 cup green veggies each day. Did very well for 3 weeks and this last week with the holiday and folks visiting. So far I have gone wrong with 12 small homemade chocolate chip cookies, 1/2 cup sausage stuffing and 2 spoons of cranberry sauce. Unfortunately I am so close to surgery this Wed I hope it doesn't do any damage to my liver.
Good luck to you! I can't say the pre-op diet gets any easier. It's pretty rough to get thru. Hopefully you at least won't be hungry post-op. I'm one of the unlucky ones. 12 days post-op and I'm hungry. Feels like forever since I ate. One good thing is physically I feel well and I did not have much pain at all. Two days after surgery I experienced nausea but the meds help. I took them every 8 hours as prescribed. I'm down 20 lbs though since the start of pre-op. That is the only thing helping my misery. LOL! Everyone says it gets better. Best of luck with your surgery!! Keep posting!!!
