Why I am redoing my sleeve and not a DS or bypass
It seems like whenever someone has a sleeve that does not work and are looking for a revision they get the suggestion of a DS or bypass. I am choosing to the have my sleeve redone. This is why.
I have a sleeve that did not work at all, zero, zilch, nada! At first I could not believe that the sleeve that worked wonders for so many, was not working for me, why? I felt like the biggest failure. After more and more time went by I had the courage to have an x ray done and send the x ray to 2 surgeons to have it checked. The observations were the same, I had a huge sleeve and very bad one at that. Basically I was working on my own after surgery to lose the weight, the little weight I lost on the liquid diet I regained as soon as I started eating. ( Yep I went to one of the cheap places you see ads on all the time... I know, I know). Early on I felt more comfortable with one of the offices and kept with them. I had the option of the Ds and bypass or to have the sleeve redone. I thought about the options until I decided on having it done again.
reasons: 1. my sleeve is so big I have not actually had any restriction other than some swelling initially. 2. I feel that if I can control portions I can lose weight. 3. I am 63 years old and I am afraid that the Ds might be too much for me, I scratched the bypass off the list in order to avoid a whole new surgery.
I am scheduled and packing for my surgery in 10 days, I am ready as I was the first time around but wiser or so I tell myself. I sure hope I am making the right decision!
I hope you're with a different surgeon than the first time!

I think your decision is a good one and with a good surgeon you will be pleased with the results.
my hubby had to have a hernia repair 8 months after being sleeved. we had our same surgeon do it and he noticed some sleeve stretching and tightened it up. worked very well and cured the hernia issue which was causing gerd.
so go for it! good luck. diane
