Extreme Nausea
I need some suggestions regarding my extreme nausea. My VSG was on Monday, the 15th, so I am 4 days postop. I just got released from the hospital today because I can't keep anything down. They have me on multiple meds but nothing seems to help. This is getting to me...
Ginger is good for nausea. Can you get some candied ginger?

Something minty seems to work for me.. maybe some peppermint tea? celestial makes a tummy tea that worked for someone else recently. I also saw someone suggest putting rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and and smelling it.
Good luck hope you find something that helps you.
I had a similar experience. My nurse told me to try ham and bean soup (pureed) and that tasted great and stayed down. Also I was told to go on meds for acid reflux as that can contribute to it as well. Finally my doctor prescribed an additional med to the Zofran (taken around the clock, I don't have the name of it right here) and that helped, too. It took a while, I'm 8 weeks out and still have my days. I find that one of my antidepressant medications makes me vomit every time, and I had no problem with it prior to surgery (I have to bury it well while taking with food). Maybe that's another possibility? So sorry you're going through this, I can sympathize with you. Give it a little time, it'll get better.
Thanks everyone for the replies. I have tried some already and will continue to try the rest. This just has to get better soon.
