Yeah, that's really high.  They sell this product at my surgeon's office.  I just bought 2 boxes of 7 packets each and paid $21 for both.

Just a suggestion - stay in Stage 5 for as long as you're in weight loss mode.  Adding fruit and veggies (mostly fruit) is adding calories that you don't need.  Fine for maintenance.  Better to keep it out or limited during weight loss.

Your quick acceleration to pureed foods sounds very similar to mine! I was advanced to purees Day 1 post-op though, while still in the hospital. It was such a big help in helping me feel "normal" faster, get my protein in from food alone quickly, etc. Though my plan did not allow any fruit - especially high carb stuff like bananas or cereals until 6 months post-op.

But for this reason alone, the pre-op diet was the worst part of the process for me. After 2 weeks of nothing BUT liquids, the mushy food I was allowed to have after surgery seemed like a steak and lobster dinner.

I will echo a post above. Stages 6 and 7 to me are more maintenance stages. If you must have fruit, make sure it is low glycemic index fruit like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Most other fruits are far too high in sugar and carbs to be eaten with any regularity during weight loss.

Thanks for posting this.  It's always interesting to see how different surgeons have different postop plans.

Although your plan allows cereals in Stage 4, I would consider avoiding them.  Too many carbs.  To maximize your weight loss in the early stages, try to stick with protein if possible.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and have been doing a lot of research.  The only thing I can add is to avoid fruits that have small seeds (strawberries, tomatoes, etc.) because they can get stuck in your suture line when you're fresh from surgery.  I think my surgeon's office advised against eating anything with small seeds for either three or six months.
