I to just went to my consult I was actually thinking rny first but she said I'm not telling u which one you have to get but I feel the sleeve is better for you.she explained the rny would be better if I had acid reflux or diabetes which I have neither. But that sleeve is less invasive and less food restrictions. She did not force me to change my mind by any means but I agree with her and glad she suggested it. Don't let them force you to change ur mind. But maybe look at u it's better for you. My Dr said to research and weight down  pros and cons of both and we can discuss at next appointment

At the end of the day it's your body and you get to decide which surgery you want.  My doctor thought I should go with RNY because of my diabetes but I insisted on VSG.  And guess what?  My diabetes went into immediate remission.

Advocate for yourself - it's your insurance and your money.  Get what you want.

Wow, thank you everyone for your in put...with much consideration and thought, I'm deciding to go with the sleeve. Like someone said, if I need more help later, I can do that. But for now...I confident the sleeve will be a very helpful tool.

I went with the sleeve Feb 2015. I started with a BMI of 54, weighed 347 pounds. I am now down to 173. I am not at my personal goal yet but I know I will get there.

No matter which surgery you get, it will only be as successful as the effort you put in. I say get the surgery you are comfortable with.

I just want to add, since no one else did, that when I attended the initial seminar it was mentioned that the DS is the most expensive of the three WLS options.  It is good to consider this as it may cost you more money (depending on insurance) and it may be a good motive for the nurse to pu**** on you.  I agree with what others have suggested, to go with your gut  and a revision can be done later on if necessary.

Not only that, but when I attended the seminar the surgeon said that was the more evasive procedure.

Anyway I have my first appointment with the nutritionist on August 14th. I'm excited to start the process finally, and I am gonna go with my gut feeling, and the sleeve is what I want and what I feel will be right for me. :) thanks...
