If I never lost another pound

Tomorrow will be 8 months since my surgery. I started at 300 at my highest and am down to 192. My weight loss has slowed down. I know I need to exercise more. I need to drink more water and cut out more carbs. I want to get to 150. However, if I never lost another pound, I would still be happy. I feel so much happier and blessed. I have so much more energy and I am a better more active mother to my children.  This surgery has given me my life back. I am content with my life and my body. That hasn't happened in a long time.

Great to hear.   Makes me excited to start this journey as of today when I received my sleeve.  Keep up the awesome work and I love your attitude.  Self acceptance and loving yourself is a beautiful thing!

You have made really wonderful progress! I really want to encourage you to stick with it. The weight might come off a little slower, but if will come off if you stay on plan. As much as you feel awesome now, it is that much more awesomeness to get closer to goal!

I feel, and say, this a lot.

I never had a "goal weight" per se, but I thought I wanted to lose half my weight (147) or get to a normal BMI (140).  I've been in the low 170's since the beginning of the year and, you know what?  If I never get to those other numbers, I'm okay with that.

I feel amazing. I can do anything I want.  I fit everywhere.  I can shop any place.  I'm healthier and more active than I've ever been.  And these are all the reasons I had surgery.  I didn't do it so I could torture myself with losing those last twenty pounds or chase an unsustainable dream.

I too feel this way.  I went from my high weight of 282, down to my current weight of 158.  NEVER thought I could lose this much weight so easily, really.  My first goal was 150.  Can't remember if I was EVER that weight.  I revised that goal to 140. (normal BMI) But, truthfully, I really like myself at this weight.  Doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying though.  Keep up the fight everyone!

While it's great to feel this way, it's important to get yourself back on track so you can keep losing weight.  Don't fall into the trap of complacency just because life is better than it used to be :)

This is so true. I think I thought it would be an easy fix but it  is WORK daily. Every Day I can either plan my way to health or failure.

And it's work even once you've lost the weight!

I had a friend tell me the other day, "You know, I always thought dieting and losing weight was a discrete thing and that once I did it, I could stop.  But I realized that it's for forever.  Even once I lose the weight I still have to keep at it, or else I'll gain the weight back."  It was a HUGE revelation for her - something she hadn't ever considered before.

I think a lot of us forget that.  We think of "losing the weight" as the goal and then life will go back to normal.  But it will never go back to the way it was if we want to stay healthy - these changes we're making, these need to be forever.

I've heard many times on this forum that when you stop losing, your weight can bounce up about 10 percent so I decided to go a little lower if I can to allow for rebound. I wouldn't want to be 20 or 30 pounds overweight and then bounce up 10 percent more.

108 pounds! Good for you! You're reassessing your progress and know where to make changes to get rid of those final 42 pounds. It's tempting to stop where you are, but if you and your surgeon believe your goal weight is a good one, keep going. Even at a much lower weight, extra pounds are still detrimental to your health. Good luck!
