Protein Iced Coffee

I can admit it... I'm addicted to iced coffee. I'm 3.5 years out and occasionally I would treat myself to a sugar-free french vanilla coffee from McDonald's. The downside? 290 liquid calories. *GASP* I absolutely hate to drink my calories! So I was trying to find a way I could still enjoy my iced coffee, without all those calories AND get my protein in. This is my solution and totally works for me.

  • I use one large insulated Bubba Mug and fill it with ice.
  • I then pour 1/2 a container (5.50 oz) of Premier Chocolate Protein Shake (the ready mixed 11 oz container) over the ice.
  • Pour Coffee to fill remainder of the mug. (I make my coffee the night before and put it in a pitcher in the fridge).
  • Add 2 Splenda (or however many to suit your taste).\
  • Enjoy!

15 grams of protein, and roughly 88 calories! I drink one in the morning when I'm getting ready and I drink another on my way into work. So by breakfast I've already gotten in 30 grams of protein and less than 200 calories!

I did almost the same thing every morning for a long time. Except I'd brew a carafe of strong coffee and chill it in the fridge. Enough for several days(check out cold brew online as well) in the morning I'd mix it with chocolate Unjury and pour over ice. Soooo delicious!

I use this to make cold brew coffee.  You can find a similar type of pitcher at Walmart, too.  It makes cold brew clean up easy :)

Totally going to try your idea!!

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I found that using my French press works great for cold brew coffee too.
