Multi vitamin nausea update

A few people asked me for an update, as they've experienced nausea as well. It did not help taking it with food. Brace yourself for the controversial: dr. does not prescribe vitamin patch, said it's a scam, does not deliver the levels of vitamins needed. Just passing on what my dr. said. I know many here use the patch, so obviously, like everything else, it' on a dr. To dr. basis. I'm now using an adult chewable that includes iron, I also take calcium citrate minis, & vitamins b & d that I took prior to surgery due to low levels.

How about a capsule for vitamins? You should be far enough out not to need a chewable? I take a Ultra Multi Formula with Iron 270C, which is 3 capsules a day. I HATE chewables and I hate swallowing large vitamins as well (smell etc. really bothers me). I have chewable calcium citrate separately so I don't take the iron and calcium together.

Are you still having nausea with the chewable that includes iron? I know iron causes nausea for me when it is included in my multi. That is why I take it separately at night.

I agree that you don't need chewables at this point. Have you tried actual pills?

odd that your surgeon would say that. I have been using the patches for over a year and have had some of the best labs I ever had on the eight years post op.

Does he sell vitamins on his practice by chance?

My nausea issue is specifically with multi vitamin tablets & capsules, all other tablets I'm fine with, so I'm on chewable for now. Everyone's body reacts differently... No my dr. does not sell vitamins; as I prefaced my post, just a follow up to a previous post. Many different dr.s have many different experiences & opinions.

I'm with you here. For a few months, I was able to tolerate capsules and tablets for the multi then all of a sudden - boom - I'd puke them up every time I took them no matter what I did. My team suggested switching to gummy vitamins for a multi and taking the iron separately. Working like a charm. I've been taking B12 and D since before surgery but they are these tiny little capsules so no issues with them.

Part of it, for me, was the smell of the multi pill turned my stomach after surgery.

Do what works for you, so long as your doc is OK with it and your levels are good. I'm 14 months out and my levels are fine.

Keep on losing!

As long as you're getting 200% of most vitamins and minerals, the manner in which you do it doesn't matter so much. Be vigilant about your lab work and make sure that you track your own results, don't rely on your doctors to catch trends.

I was disappointed by the results of the patches, so I can speak to first-hand experience.
