One week post surgery... is this a dream??

Why...oh why...didn't I have my VSG sooner?

I am one week post surgery, and I'm already getting into "that stack" of clothes in my closet.  10 pounds lighter.  I am inches from one-derland.

I just asked my husband if he replaced an old favorite pair of jeans in the stack with a larger size, so I'd feel good when they fit!  lolol  I was in that much shock and disbelief.  :)  This is CRAZY!

The week went well...just having problems getting all the protein and fluids in.  Not because it hurts or makes me sick, but because I just don't get hungry. That used to happen to me when I was faithful to an Atkins menu as well.  Seems like removing simple carbs and just taking the week to detox has removed the cravings.  Imagine that.  ;)  I have a feeling this is going to be a really fun spring!  :) :)  Happy weekend, all!

That is awesome!! I am one of those that has to lose a bunch before I can go down in pants, but am always amazed by those that only have to lose ten pounds. I think that is awesome!!!

I am 2 weeks post op and am right there with you on struggling with protein and water. Hopefully one of us can find an easy way to bump them both up!! Good luck! I cannot wait to see how well you do on your journey!

THANKS, Jenna!  In fairness, I don't think I've gone down a full size yet.  Here's how crazy I am--I seriously have 3 stacks of jeans on my closet shelf.  Tonight's stack is 'I can get 'em on, but no one really wants to see that.'  The 2nd stack is a couple of old pair that are 1 to 2 full sizes lower.  The 3rd is just one pair of jeans that I decide is "goal."

It usually takes a good 15 lbs for me to go down a size...I tend to lose/gain weight all over pretty evenly.  For some reason, this week, it was enough to get me into those "aaaaaalmost fit, but no really" pairs...Only now I have to call them "comfy and lookin' good!"  lol   I'll take it!

We are so doing this!  I'm excited for you as well!!!  Thanks for the cheers!   :)

haha! I love that! "no one wants to see that" I know what you mean by those. Those are the ones you can lay down to zip and look great until you stand up ;) Mine are starting to look loose in the legs but not in my waist/gut.

A few years ago when I lost 70 pounds it took me 50 pounds before I went down a pant size and that was with working out 4x a week! My body is just frustrating! Lol. Luckily I started this time about 15 pounds smaller so I know it won't be too much longer!

Yes we are!!! We got this!

Congrats to both of you ladies.  Now just keep on keeping on.  Get in your protein and fluid and hang on for quite a ride.

Thanks, friends!!!  Angie, I'm with you... I've been from a size 8 to a 16 and every stop along the way--and of course, as you're gaining weight, you don't get rid of your smaller clothes, because you convince yourself that you'll be RIGHT back in them...then 3 years later, you find a pair of pants with dust on them.  -sigh-  I'm so glad that I finally have a tool that will allow me to get down to a healthy BMI and just stay there.  No more yo-yo roller coasters.  Just good health, and a totally different perspective on food as fuel...not an emotional friend.

This journey is about so much more than pounds for me.  The other day, my husband said, "I've watched you struggle and be so emotionally burdened by this for almost 10 years.  I really think this is a bigger pile of baggage than you realize.  Do you have any idea how free you are about to feel, if you approach this correctly?"  And he's right... the emotional weight is so much more damaging than the physical weight.  And I can already feel my perspective changing.  Such an interesting journey...  I work in the medical field, and always feel like such a hypocrite when I talk to my patients.  Not anymore...sugar is gone, I'm exercising, I'm...wow...taking all my own advice.  ;)

So those stacks of jeans in my closet...I'll work my way through them, just like all of you dear people will work your way through yours!  And when I get to the end of the stack?  I'll buy a NEW goal pair...and just keep on going.  I feel empowered by my sleeve.  This is happening.  Period.  And I am beyond excited to have found an entire group of people just like me--and thrilled that it's happening for all of you as well.  You are all an inspiration!!

Now...back to studying.  Heheh... Happy Saturday!!!!!

I am awed by your husband's remark: what a sensitive, empathetic thing to say! It's clear that you are happy with your decision, and your post indicates that you're doing well. I won't be having my surgery until sometime in June, but until then it's good to read about other people's success while still new to a post-surgery body. Thanks -- and the best of luck to you as you continue your journey to health.
