It's happened

I believe I am finally in the dreaded 3 week stall. Though I would also like to contribute this stall( and small gain .2) to PMS. I am supposed to start next week on my one month post op. I hate that this is going to cause my total for the month to be skewed. I hope this temporary gain doesn't mess me up too bad. I know the stall is common and expected but man does it suck. I was hoping to bypass it until at least next week since I know I will be up then.

However, TMI could the stall just be because I am constipated? I haven't went in 8 days. I have IBS so this is normal for me unfortunately. I have taken a dose of Miralax this afternoon so hopefully that helps.

On a better note, today I have managed to get 73 g of protein in! I am supposed to get 80 but am pretty happy with 73 since I have been struggling to get above 45 g. Now if I can just get my water up I know I will do better. Hope everyone is doing well!!

Stalls do happen to lots of folks, HOWEVER, you mentioned one of the keys, constipation and fluids.  Esp. if you have a history of constipation, you MUST get and keep your fluids up.  And, I would be taking a daily miralax or 2x a day until this is resolved.  Bowel impactions are nothing to take lightly.  Although I am eating small amounts of pretty normal stuff these days, I still take a big shot of benefiber (generic) ever day.  I know it is hard in the beginning to get your fluids up and protein but remember you can count your protein drinks as fluid too and get both in at once.  .2 is nothing to worry about.

Otherwise, did you take your measurements in the beginning?  If not, do it now.  If you are going to be one of those that stall and lose and stall and lose, lots of times you will continue to lose inches when the scale is reading the same thing.

If needed put the scale away.  Concentrate on following your program and be excited each day when you get your protein and fluid in and follow your program, all things you can control, instead of what the scale says, which is something you can't control.

You can do this.  You are well on your way to a healthier life!!!

Thank you, Price! Luckily I have never had impacted bowels and I know that is not something I want now! The longest I have went is about 2 weeks before, but I am not going to let it get that far this time.

Fluids are hard to get in because I am not a big drinker but I am trying.Today is day 3 of mixing unflavored protein in with water and crystal light. So far this is helping get both in. I have also mixed in some Miralax with it. I have prescription Miralax. too. so maybe that will help more.

I did take some measurements but didn't write them down. I need to go through and measure everything. I know once I start walking more it will help too. It has been yucky outside here and I haven't got my treadmill moved yet. Hopefully this is something I can get done today since my SO is home.

I downloaded an app to track my weight. So I don't mind weighing everyday. However, if it becomes a problem I will hide it like you mentioned. Oh, and that .2 was gone again this morning. Just no actual loss in about 5 days or so.

Like Price said, stalls are normal.  I stall A LOT!  But I am consistently going in the right direction... I just don't lose for 2 or 3 weeks at a time in between losing.  You definitely want to be taking miralax or something to get your body going.  And make sure to get your protein and fluids.  It is hard... especially at first... I didn't hit my groove until about week 6 on getting all my protein, fluids and vitamins. :)

Good luck!

Ah. Thank you. That makes me feel better knowing that it's normal not to be getting all of everything at this point. I expect stalls so that is okay. It sucks of course. But I know it was to be expected. I just know I have PMS and constipation going against me, too. I figured since I am a LW that stalls may be more frequent.

Yea, they suck. :)  I feel like I stall more than I lose, but it is such a joyous occasion when I drop a pound! :)

Good for you getting your #'s up.  I still haven't found a use for my unflavored protein I bought pre WLS.  I've hated everything Ive tried with it.  Maybe Ill give your mix a try.  Do you use a full scoop? How much water?

I can relate on the constipation.  If I don't take my miralax, I have to deal with the results and the less/stalled weight loss.  I gotta admit I always wonder how its possible when I'm consuming mostly liquid, my stools feel like rocks leaving my body...  Anyone know the answer to that?

Hey Navychic, what is this Miralax you are all talking about?  Is it a brand of laxative?

It is a brand of laxative that is supposed to be non habit forming.

I do use a full scoop. It's 26 g of protein zero carbs. I use 16 oz of water and about 1.5 packs of crystal light fruit punch. If I only use one packet the taste is too diluted to get down for me. it does taste a little different but not bad.
