It is Monday afternoon and I am home from the hospital. Everything went great. I went in on Thursday for pre-op and got really sick from the Milk of Magnesia. I had such a migraine, I almost called my doctor to postpone the surgery. At 5am when I got to the hospital I was feeling better. The whole surgery was a blur, one moment I was joking with the surgical staff and the next moment I woke up in recovery. I woke up really fast and was quickly trying to escape my bed. It took several nurses to convince me that I needed to lay back down and relax. Once I got to my room, I was doing ok. I walked about 7 hours after the surgery. Following my walk I felt a whole lot worse. The air and gas pain was aweful and then came the nausea and vommitting which was a nightmare, not to mention my catheter incident...

Then, 24 hours later I was up and walking a mile inside the hospital and on the roof of the hospital and feeling great. I was amazed how fast everything changed from bad to good. I am also amazed how good ice chips are when you are having a sahara desert case of dry mouth. According to my surgeon, my sleeve pouch holds about an ounce like the RNY pouch and I do notice it getting that full feeling after a sip of water. It is going to take some learning to use it well. I am starting protein on Wednesday. We will see how that goes.
