Hello, my name is Chad, I have been married for 25 years and have 4 kids ages 24 (boy), 21 (boy), 14 (girl), 8 (boy). I am retired Air Force Veteran of 23 years. I am still serviing with the Air Force in Civial Service (GS-06). I am also a 90% disabled vet thru the VA, with that said it means more money in pocket. I am also a 4th Degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate and Arnis de Mano (Filipino Martial Arts). I was not fat all my life; I start to get over weight in 1999. I got up to 220, then went on a liquid diet to PCS and lost 43 pounds in 6 weeks. Then in 2004 (230 pounds) I had heart failure and was given the medicine Coreg. By the time I retired in 2007 I had ballooned up to 270. After retirement I was able to get off Coreg, but my weight ballooned up to 315 by summer 2009. I decided to seek WLS because I had so much weight to lose. By the time of WSL I weighed 328. I have sleep apnea, asthma, CAD, cardiomyopathy, high blood pressure. With all that I had Open RNYGastric Bypass 1 Oct 09. I am not a big writer but will try to blog some.

Well for 2011 I was going to start racing simi-pro, but changed my mind when I found out about Ranndonneuring. Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.
Randonneur Events
The most common type of event is a brevet (pronounced breh-VAY), referring to the certificate (brevet) the participant receives signifying completion of a particular distance. Randonneur events are 200 km (125mi), 300 km (190mi), 400 km (250mi), 600 km (375mi), 1000 km (625mi), and 1200 km (750mi). The longer events are held over multiple days. Along the course, you check in at various places to show that you completed the entire course. During longer events, sleep breaks are planned at intermediate points. In the end, you get a medal if you complete the course within the generous time limit. If you like going fast, there usually is a group who try to see how quickly they can complete the course. But the results are listed alphabetically, and everybody gets the same medal, so it is not a race. Our long rides are challenging for anybody, but every finisher is a winner.
One of the most famous of these longer events is the 1200 km Paris-Brest-Paris, first held in 1891 and now held every four years. The next PBP will be in August 2007 and members of SIR will participate alongside over 4,000 riders from dozens of countries.
I think Randonneuring for RNY person is a great challange because of trying to get all your water and food in is going to be a bigger part of the trip than the actual ride. Most ridders would not even be aware of your hidden struggle or challange. Hopefully this will all go great for me.
Me on a trainer thinking about the win, LOL
