9/12/09 Less Than Five Days

Sep 11, 2009

It’s less than five days until my surgery and I’m feeling a little anxious. I’m ready for this to be done, but I’m also worried that I’m not ready for something this invasive. It’s hysterical that as I’m typing this, I have a horrible bout of acid reflux.

I wish that I had done this months ago. Now that it’s down to the last couple of days before surgery… I’m getting nervous.

Someone asked me what my “final meal” was going to be. I wasn’t sure what they meant as I was sure as hell going to wake up after surgery. They explained that the “final meal” was something you would want before surgery, like an uber fatty meal designed to hold on to your arteries and make you wonder why your arm has gone numb.

I thought about it and wondered… Since I’m not going to be eating solid food for six weeks, what do I want to eat for my dinner before surgery? I’m gonna have to say solid food. I want to overload myself with my favorite meal this weekend so that I don’t miss it when I’m chugging down protein drinks. What is my favorite meal? Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. I might treat myself to a 2fer of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

The hospital called me and told me that my surgery time is scheduled for 7:30am. That means that I have to be there for 6am. That means I need to leave my parents house at 5:20am. That means I need to take a shower at 4:45am. That means I need to set my alarms for 4am and 4:30am. That’s right… I said alarms. It’s difficult for me to wake up after I’ve fallen asleep.

It’s very painful when I initially wake up, especially if I turned over to my back. My butt is very large.

OH! I’m making a note to measure myself sometime this weekend as a point of reference for “BEFORE”.
