Ali (10:10 AM):  lol
Mel (10:10 AM):  ? ?
Ali (10:11 AM):  my dr was a riot yesterday
Mel (10:11 AM):  WHY?
Mel (10:11 AM):  i didn’t mean to captialize that
Mel (10:11 AM):  lol
Ali (10:12 AM):  he asked if i was taking medication and i said ‘no. i hate medicine… i mean, not the practice of, just the taking of’
Ali (10:12 AM):  his reply? ‘i hate both too’
Ali (10:12 AM):  ’but it pays the bills’
Mel (10:12 AM):  lol
Ali (10:13 AM):  apparently im dangerously anemic
Mel (10:13 AM):  that’s not good
Mel (10:14 AM):  so i’m assuming you’re going to be put on medication?
Ali (10:18 AM):  yeah
Ali (10:18 AM):  which also made me laugh
Mel (10:18 AM):  why?
Ali (10:19 AM):  because i had just told him i hated medicine
Mel (10:19 AM):  ah, well sadly anemia tends to need it…lol
Ali (10:19 AM):  yep
Mel (10:25 AM):  are you going to have to change your diet or anything like that?
Ali (10:25 AM):  but, if my levels go up im all set
Mel (10:26 AM):  well that’s good
Ali (10:26 AM):  because of the anemia? no. because im being set into a regimented thing for the surgery, yes
Ali (10:26 AM):  i have to give up coffee
Ali (10:26 AM):  /cries forever
Mel (10:27 AM):  oh man that’s going suck
Ali (10:27 AM):  and coke
Ali (10:28 AM):  caffeine is apparently a nono
Mel (10:28 AM):  ahhhh….warn girl when you’re going to discuss such crazy talk, i didn’t have the chance to cover my coke’s ears…it’s ok coke, i’m not giving you up, i promise…
Mel (10:28 AM):  i’m sorry…i don’t know if i could do it
Ali (10:29 AM):  lol
Ali (10:29 AM):  soda really isn a big deal for me
Ali (10:30 AM):  i dont drink it every day
Ali (10:30 AM):  so the dependency isnt there
Mel (10:30 AM):  yeah, well that’s good…i’d need like methadone or something to wean me off…lol
Ali (10:31 AM):  but the thought of switching to decaf made me consider suicide
Ali (10:31 AM):  lol
Mel (10:31 AM):  that will suck for you
Ali (10:32 AM):  i’ll get over it
Mel (10:32 AM):  i’m sure
Ali (10:33 AM):  because i’ll have lost my acid reflux and i think my back wont always hurt
Ali (10:34 AM):  and i’d lose 100+ pounds
Ali (10:35 AM):  plus with less weight id risk playing sports again
Ali (10:35 AM):  man i miss volleyball
Mel (10:41 AM):  yeah, it will def be worth it
Ali (10:41 AM):  i mentioned it to sunny during a party and she started telling me not to do it
Mel (10:42 AM):  why?
Ali (10:42 AM):  she spouted off a whole bunch of things
Mel (10:44 AM):  i can understand, anytime you consider surgery it is risky…but you’ve been thinking about this a while and i’m sure you’ve done the research
Ali (10:44 AM):  i have
Ali (10:45 AM):  did i ever tell you how much i weigh?
Mel (10:45 AM):  i don’t think so
Ali (10:46 AM):  well, at my height i should weigh 145
Ali (10:46 AM):  i am two 5′9 people
Ali (10:47 AM):  i’ve gotten people giving me attitudes and telling me i’m being lazy
Mel (10:47 AM):  because you’re choosing to do the surgery?
Ali (10:48 AM):  every time i do something, it is like I have 145 pound weights on me
Ali (10:48 AM):  yep
Mel (10:49 AM):  well that’s silly…no matter how close they are or are not to you they have no concept of what you have done or haven’t done or how hard this is or isn’t on you being your weight
Mel (10:49 AM):  they have no right to judge
Ali (10:49 AM):  its from people i wouldnt expect it from either
Ali (10:50 AM):  people judge regardless
Mel (10:50 AM):  i know but its unfortunate…it s your choice and your body…why should they have a say?
Ali (10:51 AM):  im sure you have judged me just as i have you, but we possess the tact to shield the person we care about Ali (10:51 AM):  because everyone wants to fix me and think they understand what im capable of
Mel (10:51 AM):  of course…i have opinions about everything but i also am fully aware when my opinions actually matter…in instances like this they do not
Mel (10:53 AM):  to quote the age old adage…i haven’t walked in your shoes and therefore i have don’t have enough information to form a realistic conclusion
Ali (10:54 AM):  the only people whose opinions matter as to whether or not i do this are me, the surgeon, and a psychiatrist Mel (10:54 AM):  exactly
Mel (10:54 AM):  i’m happy as long as you’ve done the research and thought things through…since you’ve been thinking about this for a long ass time i’m content
Ali (10:55 AM):  i know people are afraid because its altering of my internal organs, but my risk is much lower than most because of my age
