Smaller Outfit

Sep 30, 2011

The other day at work, I was talking to one of my co-workers about the struggles her very large (super morbidly obese) sister was having with her weight loss. This sister is planning on having gastric bypass but her insurance and the hospital program require a 5% weight loss before approval.

One of the things my co-worker thought she would do was buy her sister a smaller outfit and use it as incentive to work harder. I told her absolutely not, it does the exact opposite for most. I told her that it would remind her constantly of how she was NOT progressing in her weight loss. In a way, say to her "Look, this is what you could be wearing, you are failing."

I went on to say the best thing she could do for her sister is go with her for walks, encourage healthier eating, things like that. I also suggested that they come to support group, both of them. They need to see that others are in this same struggle and how they are dealing with it. Also to have the support of others outside of family. I think that helps more than the 'loving' sister sometimes.

My life is shaping up pretty good. The 5 Day Pouch test shaped up to be what I needed. The pouch and head are currently on the same page. I know that could change in an instant but I am prepared for it. Did have a premenstral dietary meltdown and had a whopper junior (minus the mayo) the other day. Did not let it totally derail me. Successd I think. BTW -6.5 lbs in 5 days.

Have a wonderful day all. Love ya!!

Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,

Wow, its been almost two months since I added a post. I need to work on doing that more often. Lots going on in that time.

In the middle of the 5-day Pouch Test. Day 3, that's the middle right? Days 1&2 went very well. That is til I realized that I was feeding my carb monster with cough drops. It started such a wanna feed frenzy but I did not succumb to his wishes. Buying sugar free ones today. Struggled to get a half cup of Greek yogurt in. Didn't struggle this much when I was a fresh post-op. Wonder what's up with that, but ever so grateful for the restriction.

Personal life going amazingly well. Gary is such a wonderful man. Treats me like a princess. He is starting his WLS journey. wish he could go to the same program I do but his insurance is not accepted there. I will be his biggest supporter and advocate. He is mine too.

NOLA with OH was fun! Didn't meet too many new people but those that I did were so nice. The city, well, it is New Orleans. Bourbon Street was not my cup of tea, especially when the cops had to walk me back to my hotel. When the cops tell you that you are in danger you get nervous. But they did get me there safely.

Can't wait for Sexy in the City with OH. I know that is going to be a blast. Lots of my support group going and lots of old friends. A month from today! Yeah!

That's it for now. Hopefully I will remember to post more often.
