Surgeon Testimonial

Kevin Wasco, M.D.
I was very impressed when I first met Dr. Wasco during the seminar. I first met him one on one in May of this year. I was very pleased that he was my surgeon. He is very nice. He made me feel a lot better about the whole surgery. He came and talked to me in the hospital. He even signed the pillow I was given. The whole office staff is very nice.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I had a love/hate relationship with food. Sometimes I would eat everything I could, even if I was full. Then there were days where I barely ate because the thought of eating and gaining more weight scared me. It has always been like that with me.

Almost 6 months out.
on November 9, 2011 6:44 am
I can't believe that I am almost 6 months out from my surgery. Time is really going by fast. Next Thursday will be 6 months. Next Friday, I go for my 6 month post op appointment. I can't believe the amount of weight I have lost in the almost 6 months since my surgery. I am down 133lbs post op. I am down a combined total of 233lbs. It just seems unreal that I am this small again. I haven't been this small since before I got pregnant with my son.

I weighed myself this morning and I am 248lbs. I couldn't believe it. I was like WOW! I am just shrinking away right now. I am always cold, which is weird because this time last year, I was always warm. I didn't even wear a winter coat last year and I live in Wisconsin. You best bet that I have a winter coat now lol. I am getting so close to my goal weight.

63lbs left until my goal weight of 185lbs. I am wondering now if I should rethink my goal. I guess I'll talk to my surgeon. They never gave me a goal weight, I gave it to myself. I am almost to my mini goal of 230lbs. I want to get down to that before the end of this month. My 29th birthday is next month, so I want to reward myself by going shopping maybe.

My mom thinks I am losing weight too fast. Maybe I am,but there is nothing I can to do stop it.  I mean I have a tiny stomach that doesn't hold much food. I don't regret having this surgery at all. I am glad that I did because I am finally getting healthy. My son has the active mother he deserves to have.

100 pounds gone post op!
on September 10, 2011 6:27 am
I had my RNY May 17th,2011. I was 381 the morning of my surgery.  I weighed myself this morning and I am down to 281. 100 pounds gone since my surgery almost 4 months ago! I couldn't believe it. I am so happy. I feel like I have my life back.  My weight has been a huge struggle for me my entire life. I've went from starving myself to lose to gaining a bunch of weight during my pregnancy with my son and after I had him. I feel like I am finally giving my son the mother he deserves. The mother that is able to play with him without getting winded or tired.

He is loving having a thinner mom. We are getting out everyday (Weather permitting) and we are walking. He loves it! He loves being outside. I'll admit, I was nervous to have the RNY done. I've known people that have had it done and they had bad complications from it.  I knew though that I wanted my life to change. I looked into the surgery. Originally, I wanted the lap band done, but my surgeon wouldn't do it with how big I was. He felt that the RNY would benefit me better. My insurance wouldn't pay for the sleeve. So Lapband or RNY were my choices.

I am very happy with my choice to have RNY done.  Prior to surgery, I was on the preop diet for 6 months before. It was a requirement to go on it earlier than normal. They wanted me down below 400 before surgery. I lost a 100 pounds prior to surgery. I had people ask me why I was going through with the RNY if I had already lost a 100 pounds on my own, I simply told them that I know I would benefit from having it done. That my choice was made and there was no changing my mind.

So I sit here today, 200 pounds lighter. a 100 pounds pre op and a 100 pounds post op. It makes me happy to know that I've done it a little more healthier than the first time I lost weight.  I am happy with my choice and i am happy with the way things are going. My sleep apnea is gone, I am no longer diabetic, my cholestoral is down and my blood pressure is good.

Going in tomorrow to see my surgeon
on July 12, 2011 7:31 am
I called my surgeons office yesterday with a complaint. I've been getting sick while eating. I eat real slow and I cut up my food into very tiny bites. I chew it to nothing, but I've been getting sick when after I've ate.  They think I have a stricture.  So they are going to have go down my throat to dilate my pouch so I can eat.

I am kind of nervous about this but at the same time, I am looking forward to being able to eat without getting sick. This is a feeling I hate. I ate breakfast this morning and now it feels like there is a rock in my pouch. It's very uncomfortable.
