Day 5 Post Op--Tiny Coffee Flavored Protein Meal

Jun 12, 2012

I love coffee, but I've never overindulged (not since college).  I drink one cup, maybe two cups a day when it's particularly challenging waking up.

Since before my pre-op liquid diet, I haven't had any coffee at all.  I haven't had any trouble waking up either, since I'm sleeping A LOT and my pain usually reminds me that it's time to wake up and have another dose of medicine (which I am officially stopping today since the pain is nearly gone!)

I decided to give my favorite breakfast staple a go today.  The cup that I chose is an espresso cup, and I decided to use 2% milk as a base, and mix in a sledload of neutral protein powder.  I might try Vanilla next time, that would be interesting!  It's like a mini meal in a mug!

Tastes just fine to me, but then again maybe my taste buds are growing less particular!  The texture is just like you'd get with one of those "instant capuccino" powders.

I slept on my side last night for the first time since surgery which was a real triumph because I'm a side sleeper.  I HATE sleeping on my back!  To be able to sleep on my side in comfort was a huge leap forward!

I also had my first post-op BM yesterday.  Just to let you know it happened, not to tell you all about it!

Overall, I'm feeling mentally alert, but physically kind of limp.  I don't know if that's because my body is eating itself or because of the lingering fatigue from surgery recovery.  My mood is great, and I look forward to seeing the changes each day brings.

My husband and I have a game where I'll give him a "flash" of my torso once a day and he points out all the things that are different.  He called me the shrinking lady today!  That made me feel pretty good.
