Here I go.....

Mar 31, 2011

Okay, so this is my very first post/blog/whatever you wanna call it.  I'm new to this, and I hope to learn from the people I meet through this site.  So far, everyone I've seen has made me smile.  Just to know that I'm not alone!  I had gastric bypass surgery 4 weeks ago today, and have lost 31.5 pounds.  I don't really know if that's good or bad, according to where most people are, but I'm so freaking elated because I didn't have to break a law to get here!  I'm struggling right now with not being able to chew food.  I know that probably sounds dumb, but I'm beginning to feel like this part of it is never going to end!  I have 4 kiddos, and we go to the elementary school and walk at least a mile as often as we can.  The first couple of weeks was great for exercise, but then we had 2...count 'em 2 rounds of an awesomely grotesque stomach virus.  I managed to get it both times.  Go me.  I feel so silly!  I could've just held off on surgery, kissed my kids on the mouth, and been down a few pounds in a jiff!  Seriously...I'd rather go through the surgery a kajillion more times than have the plague!  Anyhoo....I'd love some words of wisdom as to what to expect.  My best friend had her lapband removed today, and will be undergoing gastric bypass next month, so at least I'll have someone here to go through my journey with me who's just a few miles away!  I'm not sure if my doctor, who I love btw, is a sadist or just super careful, but he's all about baby steps with food transitioning.  Frankly, I'm a little over it....lol.  I'm so ready to be let loose to start some "real" exercise that involves strength training and more cardio.  So...fire away!  I'm ready to conquer the world and become the incredible shrinking woman!
