Warm weather is here!

Yesterday was so nice outside. Although I didn't exercise, I found myself washing my truck before the Lap Band luncheon. This is the kind of activity I like to do. It's doing things that get my heart rate going, get me outside and I feel like I accomplish something in the process. I've been trying to spend some time out in my yards the past week or two. After my motorcycle accident, they have become overgrown and/or just not very well upkept.

We have a huge oak tree in our backyard and there are 4 smaller trees all around it. Jack told me last week that he's concerned that the smaller trees will eventually start causing issues for the larger oak. I don't need much excuse to get out my chain saw. I have all the tools necessary to make a tree disappear-- chainsaw, log splitter and a wood chipper. I cut down 3 of the smallest trees. They were about 6" at their base. I cut the trunks into stumps and stacked them in the backyard. Thursday and Friday I chipped up the branches and I will spread those chips around the backyard at some point.
My chainsaw is having a hard time starting so I am going to take it in for a tune up before I start on the biggest of the remaining sapplings/trees that remains. Hopefully, I will drop the chainsaw off on Monday and it won't take too long for them to work on it.

Jack sprayed Round Up on some of the weeds out front and also put some kind of grass seeds that look like they are already sprouted down on the bare spots on the lawn. Hopefully, they will fill in those spots through the summer. I have already put lime down and fertilizer a month or so ago. I figure this will be the year of rebuilding for the lawn out front.

It was so nice outside, that Jack decided he wanted to fire up our gas grill. We haven't used it all winter. He cooked himself 2 veggie patties and me some chicken. We used our mandoline to slice up some zuchini and took a skillet out to the grill and used the side burner to saute the zuchini in a little olive oil. That way the kitchen didn't get hot. We also used the mandoline to slice some onions and a tomato for his veggie patty burgers. He bought me a whole cut up chicken that he grilled. I won't end up eating the whole chicken. We have 2 bulldogs that end up getting a lot of the chicken I buy. Normally, I will have chicken one night, give them a thigh each (it's the fattiest part of the chicken) and then the next night I will use the breast for chicken tacos or put it on a salad (3oz). I normally give the dogs the other breast or the legs if I intend to use the other breast. He also baked a sweet potato that we mashed up.

My guilty pleasure is the chicken wing. It's not a very healthy choice. I aknowledfge that. Today, for lunch, I had a chicken taco (grilled meat), on a soft corn tortilla with a side of steamed brocoli. That was a very healthy meal. Last night, overall, was still a great looking meal if I do say so myself.

The photo is dark because I used my cell phone camera. The plate is sitting on my lap and I am pointing the camera down.
