Surgery was on Wednesday and discharged on Friday. 4 hour car ride home, my husband said I slept at least half of the way. My bed never felt so good. Surgery went well my surgeon is wonderful, there was one RN that was great she found me a pain med that I didn't wretch my guts out and all was well. She took her days off and things went down hill. Getting discharged from the hospital was almost as hard as getting the surgery. My discharge papers were signed the day before but staff wouldn't even begin discharge before 11:00 am. I begged for 2 days to take a shower only to be told that was the next shifts job, my sheets were never tidied much less changed. The RN came to check my blood sugar on last time only to tell me it was 56 so i pulled out my own kit and it was 89 so the argument was on. They weren't going to let me go with a low blood sugar so had draw down unfortunately her machine had to be recalibrated so we were in 4 points of each other when she finally got hers reset. Makes me wonder how many people needed insulin and didn't get it or got insulin when they didn't need it. I recommend you take your meter with you to the hospital.Home has been great, general aches and pains nothing major except the left shoulder. Wow sometimes that bugger just throbs. Oh well, I am grateful that I had the surgey and have a very supportive family. I am really grateful that I am strong enough to stand up for myself. Now the real work begins.
