Okay so its been YEARS since Ive been on here.  UNFORTUNATELY  I can't report what I so want to report.  I am over 3 yrs post band surgery and weigh 242 lbs. (this am).  My lowest weight was 197.  I think the failure was in my not sticking with the "band rules" and lack of support.  I have found that if you pay for the WLS out of your own pocket (with some surgeons) that you pretty much get "turned loose" once the surgery is over.  FOLLOW UP is sooooo important.  It seems that when I got the band, it was still fairly unheard of in Southern Illinois.  NO support groups and the MD didn't require f/u appts unless you ask for one.
SOOOOO   Now I am about 10 lbs shy of what I weighed when I first checked into the WLS.
Earlier this week I attended ANOTHER WLS seminar (different surgeon!) and have decided to take out my band and go for the bypass.  I am VERY ANXIOUS!!!!  Also very EXCITED.  I have an appt. with PCP this week and an appt. with the surgeon  (Dr Argotte- Paducah, KY) on Sept. 19th.  So keep me in your prayers--- I hope all goes well.  I will post more as things happen.  Maybe even a picture or two.
