5 Months post-op

Jun 01, 2009

So now I'm 5 months out and down a total of 77 lbs.  Starting to think plastics will be in my future.  My bat wings really annoy me!! AND I could be at least 2 sizes smaller without this stomach apron or the flabby thigh thing.  ICK!!  Feeling really good though and notice MUCH more energy!!!  Seem to lose about 6-8 lbs per month.  Don't know if this is comparable to everyone else or not....
My surgeon got fired, doesn't really bother me though-- my husband hated him and I always saw the PA for my follow-ups.  (Read my surgery review)
I'll try to post a recent picture soon.

ONEDERLAND!!!!!!

Mar 01, 2009

YEE HAW!!!! I weighed this morning at 198.4#  Back into my size 18's.  Not had to buy anything new yet as I have such a variety of sizes.  I am feeling stronger now.  Getting back to work after 4 wks was tough.  I was soooo tired the first few days.  I was lactose intolerant for a the first 7 wks but now can tolerate it again.  Have been exercising (never enough) on the Wii -which is really fun.
Get nauseated now and again but... par for the course I guess.   Usually my vitamin makes me feel ill so I take it before I go to bed.
Looking forward to size 16!!!

OUCH!!

Jan 05, 2009

Okay-- I don't want to scare anyone out there who hasn't had a drain and had it "pulled"  but got mine out today......  Dear God,  remind me of the drains when I decide I MUST have a tummy tuck!I am very glad its gone!
My weight today at first post-op was 224.2 ( the same as surgery day)  I can live with that.  The nut.  told me to STAY OFF THE SCALE!!!   Gee,  like thats an easy task.  I get on the scale 3-4 x's a day!!!   My husband will have to hide it.
I will return for my next check on the 19th.  Will update at that time!!!  Can't wait to eat soft foods on the 11th.  Only 5 more days of clear liquids (seems like a lifetime!)

It's finally done!

Jan 03, 2009

I am finally done!!! Had surgery on Monday and got home Friday evening. Not the best of experiences with the hospital-- see my reviews.   I still have a JP drain that I hate and can't wait to get out.  (dreading that procedure as well)  Apparently the drain end is right next to my diaghragm and talk about pain when the nurses "milked" it.  I told Dr A that it felt like they was trying to pull a rib out of there with that drainage.  Thats when he told me that it was probably up against my diaghragm but that it could move--- It hasn't yet so,,,  NO MILKING!.  I think as long as it drains--- I'm good.
My worse pain (other than that rib that was trying to escape) was in my lower back and mid shoulders.  Partly gas and lying in that bed for so long. Probably a little of the OR table too.  I was in there for 5 hours instead of the expected 2-3.  ( due to removing the band)
Maybe I'm a wimp but still very sore.  Trying my best to get in my fluids.  Can't wait to put some cottage cheese or a scrambled egg in my mouth!!! ha
No change in weight yet.  ( I know I should wait, but just had to check!)   At least I'm seated on the "bench" now.

YEAH!!!!  I called insurance co. today and was told it was approved!!!   I just happen to be sitting in the surgeon's office when I called so---surgery scheduled 12-29-08!!!! Merry Christmas to me!!!!!  AND look out SANTA next year!!!

Submitted to Insurance

Oct 29, 2008

Okay-  now all pre-op testing completed.  However I am having and EGD on Friday.  (My surgeon does this on ALL patients). His office has submitted to insurance and I called them yesterday.  They said give it another week or two before a decision is made.
Earlier this week I met an ex co-worker who had her surgery Thanksgiving last year and she has lost 170 # !!!!  She lost over 40 on the liver diet and has just done wonderful.  If I had seen her at the mall-- I wouldn't have recognized her.  Her face shape and appearance looks like a totally different person!!!
I will be starting my liver diet tomorrow.  Not really looking forward to it but.... part of the big change.  Of course the wt loss prior to surgery is a huge bonus.
Will let you all know when I hear from insurance.  Keep me in your prayers.

Dietician, Psych, Cardiac testing

Oct 01, 2008

Met with the dietician on Monday.  She just went over the post surgery diet.  Didn't get the liver shrinking diet yet.  Then I met with the psychologist.  I'm not schizophrenic or psychotic!!!! Only depressed CUZ I'M SO FAT!!!  with a bit of a self-esteem problem.
Today I had the cardiac stress test.  It only took 5 trys before they got the IV.  Of course I then had to get my blood work drawn so that was an added bonus stick.  ha
Anyway-- I feel like I'm on my way now.  Friday I will go and have my pulmonary function tests and next Tuesday my sleep study--- It's happening fast.

Pre-ops scheduled!!

Sep 24, 2008

Just heard from Dr Argotte's receptionist.  My testing is scheduled for next week and then the week after -- my sleep study.  I'm sooooo excited.  This may really happen!!!!!

Met with surgeon!

Sep 20, 2008

I had my appointment with Dr Argotte yesterday.  Didn't get to spend much time with him though cuz he got called out to a trauma case at the E.R.   He did agree to take me on (band and all-- yay me!)  So-- I
had some tests at this office (EKG, H-Pylori, Metabolism and body comp. test)  They are scheduling my sleep study, pulmonary function, stress test, dietician and I have an order for blood work. I'll also have to schedule an appt for my psych eval.  Hopefully this can all get done SOON!!  After all testing- it gets submitted to insurance.  I'm EXCITED, NERVOUS and PRAYING for coverage without 6mos. MD supervised diet!!!
