Day after surgery
May 19, 2016
i had my surgery yesterday morning (May 18). I am hurting and find it impossible to drink water all day long. I'm trying to stay positive but I guess I'm in the "wtf have I done" stage. Need some encouragement!!
One day after sleeve

I had my surgery yesterday! I did really well and was up and walking within 2 hours of coming out of surgery. I'm pretty sore today and the gas is quite painful but nothing I can't handle. I'm so excited that this day finally came.
FINALLY...

Well I finally have a surgery date set! May 18! I am so excited and now very nervous. It is really happening. I have so many mixed feelings. This is permanent. So very permanent. I mean, I am definitely ready to make this change but it is still pretty scary to think..hey, most of my stomach will be GONE and I can't ever get it back (not that I want to I don't think). I am also very excited about a new, healthier, happier, more active ME! Whew, its been a long 6+ months but its finally here. :-)
The wait is almost over!

It's been a long 6 months but I have my final meeting with the Nutritionist on Thursday. Once that is complete, I should have everything I need to submit to insurance and be approved for surgery. I hope to find out if I am approved by the following week (April 27) and then can schedule it right away! I lost 25 pounds over the last 3 months and am quite proud of myself :-). I've even had people commment "But you've done so well on your own, you don't need surgery!" Ugh, if they only knew how many '25 pounds' I have lost and gained over my lifetime! I KNOW without a doubt that I need this tool to help me maintain my weightloss but I also know that I am getting my mind right about what lies ahead. Please say a prayer that all goes well, that I am approved, and that I can schedule my surgery quickly! I am so ready to get started!
Here I go...

Well I've finally decided to take control of my body and have Gastric Sleeve surgery. I've met with the surgeon and will meet with a nutritionist/dietician in a couple of weeks to start the mandatory 6 month medically supervised weight loss program. I wanted to start journaling this process from the very beginning so this is my first entry. My current weight is 272 lbs. Wow, I don't think I've ever said that out loud (or written it, as the case may be). I am hoping to find support, advice, and inspiration on this site.
