I am 15 weeks post-op

Dec 09, 2010

I am now officially under 300. I weigh 295 fully clothed. I have still continue to walk 3 miles on treadmill at the gym with 5 lbs. dumbells in each hand. I do 6 sets of 10 reps of holding them in front of me, holding them straight out from my sides, straight up over my head and then i punch in front of me. I notice now I have got to rev up my treadmill or have an incline because now my pulse will not reach its potential (I think I am getting more in shape) lol. Did I just say that? now I run the tread mill mostly at 3.5 mph with a incline of 3 while doing my weights and i can get my pulse to about 135 then i have to amp the speed up to 4.5 mph or incline to 10 for about 2 minutes and i can get to 158 pulse.

You may notice the dates are not matching up. I have journaled all along my journey and I am just now taking notes from journal and posting a blog. I will keep the blog up better in the future, just trying to catch everyone up to speed. I have now lost 57 pounds in 78 days. I am now 314 pounds. I cannot wait to break into the 200's. I have done this in 2001, I did the adkins diet and got down to 270 i believe. So even though I been here I wm so glad the 300's are over with for me forever. I have a mentor from Clarian Bariatrics of Excellence, and his name is Dennis. He is such a good help to me, cause I am able to pick his brain and get his experience and learn from him.

I notice I have had to teach myself to chew food up very very well or I pay the price with foamies, and I have done pretty good about it. It is funny when something makes you so miserable how it teaches us. I have had no problems much at all. Very surprised about that. I have lost 29 pounds. I am pretty impressed. I have been walking 3 miles a day 6 days a week and I feel great. Pant size is dropping I do not see a big difference in the mirror but I can see ankles now and my head seems to be shrinking.

The surgey

Dec 03, 2010

Well I am glad I had started walking 6 weeks prior to surgery a half mile a day. I believe that it helped me tremendously. As soon as I came out of recovery they wheeled me to my room and before the nurse left my room i told her and my wife, "get me up so I can walk". I was so afraid of blood clots that i walked right away everyday. Gas was tolerable after the second day. I was never in no pain so to speak. I was uncomfortable but not miserable. I weighed 371 before i went under for surgery. I stayed in the hospital Monday, Tuesday, and went home Wednesday at 11 am.
