Almost 3 months and my life has improved soooo much! No blood pressure meds or lasix needed now and my insulin needs have decreased from 300+/day to 35u a day with hopes of discontinuing it completely! I've just purchased new clothes - the pants are five sizes smaller than before and the tops are 3 sizes smaller. Have lost 65+ lbs. I'm no longer in pain or short of breath and at our beach vacation I walked a half mile at a time (so much better than hurting as soon as I start!) Life is good and when my special angel ginny joins us on this side it will even be better. I was blessed with no post op complications. I've been following the "zone" diet which is a balance of carbs and protein and am very pleased with the results. Best wishes to you all! Heidi

I am so proud of Heidi. She is getting skinnier everyday and so healthy. It is so thrilling to see her look younger every day and have more energy and obviously feel so much better. Heidi is also my angel, and she is so supportive to me. Thank you Heidi!

I went to see Heidi in the hospital. She was in tears as she told me that she has been on insulin for the past 13 years and within 48 hours of this operation they are taking her off the insulin and letting her use pill form. Also they have completely removed her from her high blood pressure medicine. Also the swelling in her ankles has gone down. She is truly a walking miracle. The dr. might let her go home tomorrow. 2 days early! She is so grateful to her surgeon and the staff of the hospital and also for the support from all of you who have written her and wished her well.

I thought I'd stop in and say I hope your surgery went well, you have very little pain, and you are up and running in no time. Cathy Whitmer

I spoke with Heidi in her hospital room tonight, one day after surgery. She is up walking quite a bit and has had a little jello and clear liquids. She is doing very, very well. Her Dr. thinks she will get to go home early. She thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I am her angel and I will print off her comments and take them to her tomorrow.

You will love your new life and it will be worth the pain and wait. You will live life instead of it passing you by. Here's to a speedy recovery time.

I spoke with Heidi's daughter. Heidi came through her surgery with flying colors. She did not have to go into intensive care. She is a little drowsy now, but no pain. Her surgery took a little over 3 hours. Everything went as expected. I will keep this site updated as I hear more.
