Helen- congratulations on your long and hard journey to where you are*! I hope and pray that all your healing continues and that you stay well, healthy and happy for many years to come.Helen K. 21 years, 9 months ago
Hey this is Helen. I want to thank this site for being such a source of comfort. It has been a very long year with the wound care and problems. It delayed me exercising and I think hurt my weight loss. I have lost 120 pounds but non in the last few months at all. I am feeling hunger again and I'm able to eat too much I think. Dan said on the group WLS website that he uses the protein drinks to keep from overloading on carbs. I will try that soon too. Ya'll keep me in your prayers. It's hard trying not to lapse back into the old Helen and I gave up so much to get here. Thanks, HelenCinna G. 21 years, 10 months ago

Bed sores: Is she seeing a wound care specialist? I would recommend that. Also, there are special beds & mattresses that might help. Finally, does she have any help at home? A home health aide to help her move around could be a big help. Insurance may pay for all of those. If there is a Center for Independent Living near her, they may be able to help with the bed or mattress. The catalogue "AMPLE STUFF" has several clever devices to make hygiene more manageable. Peggy, hope this helps. Email me if I can provide more concrete information. Good luck!Peggy B. 22 years, 9 months ago
7/19/01 Bed Sores? Can anyone relate and help. Helen did live through having everything go wrong, but has severe bed sores which are open and bleeding. These are unbelievably horrible for her to cope with and wants any advice. She has not been well enough since surgery almost a month ago to get online. She is very discouraged and the pain is unbearable. Please email back to me and I will call her with any suggestions. She has to go to the burn center for treatment and also has problems with her personal cleanliness care because of this. Anything we can do?Peggy B. 22 years, 9 months ago
7/8/01 I talked to Helen's daughter for a while last night. Helen will hopefully be out of ICU today. I want to talk to her before my surgery! Everything is working well for her now. A little nauseau (is that how you spell it), though.Shirley G. 22 years, 10 months ago
