4 days post op and problems with pain meds. I am allergic to codine, so my choices are limited. Tried me on loritab in hsp and that seemed to work, then today at home broke out in rash. Dr switched me to liquid tylenol. Is it just me or is that just junk, didnt take the edge off the pain at all. Now taking benadryl, (taste makes me gag) and will try the loritab at next pain med time. Anyone have this happen? Any suggestion, I feel pretty close to good on the loritab, come off and really feel the pain, grrrrrrrrrrrr Suggestions? Thanks all!

Home Sweet Home! Well the easy part is over, the surgery is behind me, now I start the real, and lasting part of my journey. The surgery went smooth, so far so good. I did end up having the LAP done and for that I am grateful. The morphine pump sucked, made me throw almost immediately, they took me off of tha after a few long hours, but finding a pain med was a challenge because I "thought" I was allergic to codine. I was offered to go home the third day, but decided to stay because I was nervous about the pain meds, and I have a two hour drive home, but did go home day four. I am soooooooooo tired, I know it is mostly the meds causing me to be tired, but I am not ready to give them up yet. A bit sore, tender, I get nausea when I move around a lot so I move slow. I have excellent care at the hospital, and at home. Hubby bought a TV, enteretianment set up for spare room yesterday since I wont be in our (water) bed for awhile. I get bandages off today, and first shower, I am very excited about that. I will keep ya all updated, thank you so much for all the support. Thank you Linda for being there, and believeing in me, Thank you Joy, Sam for the visits. Thnnks to my lovely and loving family for taking such good car of me. Yes, i am a truly blessed person.

7/3/02: I visited Nene today. She really looked great. She said she was really tired and sore....but that is to be expected. The doctor said if she wanted she could come home today, but she wanted to wait another day. So she will be out of there tommorrow. hugs to you Nene, your doing good.

7/2/02: Talked to Nene about 2:00 today. She sounded really good. Said she was off the morphine pump and was taking shots for pain. She told me she had taken two walks, sat in the chair once and went to the bathroom by herself twice. She has been dozing on and off, but she needs the rest. I imagine she will be up and walking a couple more times this evening. I will see her tommorrow and will come back and report on her.

7/1/02: Spoke to Tom, Nene's husband at 11:00 am. She was still in surgery and had heard anything. He sounded worried and said he hadn't heard anything. i told him she would be just fine. Called back around 5:00 PM and talked with her husband again. She was asleep. He said she was doing real good. She got out of surgery around noon and things went well. She was taken to her room around 2:30 PM. he reported she was a little nauseated but that passed. Will call her tommorrow and post an update.
