7/26/2016 This is my third attempt to have weight loss surgery. I am currently seeing Dr. Powell at Baptist Hospital. I want to have the Duodenal Switch. That's what Dr. Powell offered me when I went to his office. I went in asking for the Roux EN Y surgery. I'm currently 5'8" tall and 312 lbs. My BMI IS 47. I'm in the fourth month of the required 6 month diet evaluation with my pcp. I lost 6lbs the first month, but I've gained 13 lbs in all sice Ive started. I'm not sure how insurance will think of t his issue, I started a new insulin 3 weeks ago (Humilin) and myEndo said It can make you gain weight. My insurance is Humana/ Medicare. I also have Kidney Disease, High blood pressure, PCOS,Thyroid problems, High Cholesterol, and Diabetes. My surer use t run anywhere from 430 -900 thats why they hanged my insulin a few weeks ago.
My doctors insurance lady has given me a hard time about the bmi being 50 for the duodenal switch. I'm only 47.
